Bright eyes mesmerized
Twitter leaves her unimpressed
He flies off to eat
She chooses to eat alone
Who wants to eat with a twit

Our Haikai challenge from Frank Tassone was to write a Haiku or Tanka for Haiku Saturday, using the word Twitter, referring to the birds of spring. These Cardinals were posing on my bird feeder this afternoon just staring into each other’s eyes. I thought the photos would fit right into our prompt. I decided to write a Tanka with five lines and 31 syllables.
#Haikai Challenge #32 (5/5/18): twittering (saezuri,) #haiku #senryu #haibun #tanka #haiga #renga
Such a wonderful play on words. Really liked the piece. And the pictures are so sweet.
