Haiku for a Winter Day

Winter
Darkness closes in
Winter comes softly creeping
Hiding in the shadows

Big wet snowflakes
Hold hands as they dance toward earth
Melting hearts are warm

Red Cardinals arrive
Filling their gullets with seeds
For a long cold night

Hyper little wren
Nervous always moving round
Chipper little friend

Eat seeds with abandon

  1. This gives me a wintery feeling! 🙂 We didn’t have no winter at all till now. (Well, here in the north we had exactly seven (7) snow flakes that were melted before they even touched the ground). We do have lots of wind and rain, while the cherry blossoms are out already. This is a strange winter.
