Photo by John McKaveney: The Orion Nebula.
All her life she asked
“Are we there yet?”
Always impatient to arrive
Excited by what was to come
*
Now
Lying there
Waiting to draw her last breath
Her echoes float among the stars
“Are we there yet?”

Same question, different ends, each line charged with grief and desire, Dwight. May you be comforted, even as she is in reaching her eternal desire.

Twist of thought indeed…..and heartbreaking knowing the background story to this about your sister’s death. Sending hugs from Boston…..beautiful words here and such a beautiful interpretation of the photo as well.

You’re welcome, Dwight. Yes, it’s still snowing. A generator is powering my computer and internet at the moment (in addition to the refrigerator and furnace, of course).

An eloquent and heartfelt poem. Wonderful photo, Dwight. I still miss all those I have lost. My sister emailed me today that our mother would be 100 if she were still here.

Oh wow Dwight, this is so loving and heartwarming my friend. I think Priscilla is smiling at your words right now. I think if she were here, she’d be cheering on the many accomplishments that you continue to make and the many people you continue to touch. Love this! 🤗🙏🏼😊

Dwight, I don’t often see you go sentimental, but the poignance of your poem has tears in my eyes. Cannot stand the thought of losing any of my sibs.

Thank you so much, Lisa. It is difficult to lose a family member. At my age it seems to happen more frequently than I like.
