Expectations or Anticipation 2024

Entering the new year with great expectations

Yet knowing they are fragile shimmering bubbles

Blown from our minds… floating in front of our eyes

Some large… some small… rainbow colors of hope

One by one they pop leaving tears of residue

dripping on our well laid plans

All expectations should come with a disclaimer

reminding us that our perceptions cannot be projected

making others conform to our wishes

Circumstances, values, and baggage all come into play

often leaving our expectations shuffled like a deck of cards

Losing the magic when we cannot find the Ace of Hearts

Perhaps we should enter the new year with anticipation

looking forward to the positive things that will happen

Living with expectation, but knowing our thinking may

need to be adjusted and reconsidered as each day

Plans can change at a moment’s notice as we live

and work through this experience we call life

Anticipate that everything can be worked out

with a little work and in due time

As days grow shorter and hot weather cools
A few light rains help revive struggling tomatoes
Amazing what a little extra water can do
A few cool days allows blooms to form tomatoes
Now, those old vines that seemed half dead
Are putting out new growth climbing the wire
Ripe Fall tomatoes are a nice treat
Can’t wait to slice and bite into them

Now that days are shortening and I am growing old
A resurgence of energy surges forth in the form of poetry
Amazing what a little encouragement can do
Blogging seems to bring out the best inspiration in me
Sharing my experiences and photos with all of you
Followers from all over the world are climbing each week
New poems continue to flow like ripe juicy tomatoes
To be shared with those who dare to bite into them
Tasting the inspiration // passing on feelings and ideas

Today at d”Verse, we are looking at waiting and anticipation. Nothing peaks my anticipation like seeing the green tomatoes getting bigger and bigger as they turned rosy red orange. Waiting for them to ripen is wonderful anticipation.

Beauty in the Broken

Brokenness is another way of reinventing ones self. Sometimes when the hard knocks of life shatter our plans for the future destroying our self-image, it helps to realize that this is not the end, but rather the beginning of new and greater things.

Beauty in the Broken

Look for beauty in the broken

For out of the shards of glass

Comes a beautiful mosaic

More spectacular than the original…

A healing of brokenness

Forever cemented together…

The pieces of anticipation

Broken, yet whole once more

Anticipation

Winter is a time of hope and anticipation of what is to come. It is a time of reflection on the past year and a look forward to good things to come. What was lost in the past year is not necessarily gone, but remain as seeds of hope for renewal in the spring. Collect those seeds and plant them again when you feel the warmth of the sun on your face and the gentle rains of spring. Let them grow and blossom. There is no hope, only memories in a dried arrangement!

Anticipation

I collected seeds today

What was once an orange glow

Mirroring the warmth of the sun

Now captive of early morning frost

Dried and twisted stems

Heads bowed in thirsting humility

Yet full of hope and anticipation

Remnants of petals soft and fragile

Hard-pressed in the icy blasts

Devoid of life-giving water

Memory of beauty still hanging on

Winter is a time of anticipation

Remembering and expecting

Knowing that when the icy chill is gone

Resurrection of beauty will occur

Hope left in the fruit of the flower

Seeds are not dead rather full of paused life

So I collect seeds in winter

With anticipation of spring
