The Tree of Life

Today I am sharing a poem from a dear friend, Ike Glick, who lives in Edmonton, Alberta. He sent this poem with his Christmas Letter, and I thought it was very creative and well written. The word Sophia is a feminine name which means wisdom. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

The Tree of Life

‘God’s wisdom’

The essence of Being

Even before creation, “I Am”

On the heights” for life perspective

Along the way” in unexpected places

Confronting, “On the path I take my stand

I may be found outside the gates of power

I am ubiquitous

I am available

I am optional

Most free are they who choose my ways

“Those who find me find Life.

As they follow the star . . . *

Truth or Fools Gold?

IMG_0617 (2)
Finding truth in today’s world
is like panning for gold.
We gather our pan full of sand
our minds swirling around;
Washing out the stones and gravel
sifting through bits of silt.
Hoping to find a glint of truth
in the bottom of it all.
Sometimes // we find a speck
here and there;
Other times, all we end up with
is fools gold!

It pains my heart to see the way one policeman’s deadly action has reopened the door to division and strife that has been stewing for years in the United States. Peaceful protests are very much in order, but the violence of opportunistic looters and destructive vandalism in no way honors the memory of George Floyd. How can one call for respect when their actions show otherwise. The lack of wisdom and understanding in this situation is very disheartening!

Choices affect everyone;
changing the course of a nation
Choices are the difference between life and death;
altering the lives of everyone around us.
Wise choices lead to life…
“Above all, seek wisdom and understanding…” Proverbs

Bearing Fruit

Like an old tree,  limbs twisted with age, keep on keeping on in that journey of life God has given you. No one knows how many years are left to make a difference in the lives of those around you. As long as the sun warms your branches keep moving forward.

Bear fruit in old age

Your final summers of life

Filled with sweet wisdom

Climbing Life’s Mountain

On top of Grandfather Mountain, just before the climb to the top, is this sign warning everyone who climbs the mountain to be careful on this difficult journey. As I read the sign I thought, this is exactly what we all need to hear as we climb this mountain we call life!

Be Careful

On This Rugged Mountain

Avoid Ledges, Storms, & High Winds

Watch Footing

Supervise Children

Three Day Quote Challenge
“In everyone’s life, at some time, our inner fire goes out.
It is then burst into flame by an encounter with another human being.
We should all be thankful for those people who rekindle the inner spirit.”
