Love and Anger

Love is the skin of the soul…

Anger is the shadow that follows you

And, in the dark of night it becomes you

Love is face to face welcomed reality

Anger is that dark distorted part

Hauntingly eerie and frightening

Love lights the way leaving no shadow

No need to look back and wonder…

What part is trailing along behind

Love is the skin of the soul

bringing life and light to everyone

Healing the heart

Wrapping us in the divinity

With which we were created

Coming up for Air

EER_0963 (3)

We have now been living in our own little world for the past four months. I feel like this turtle swimming around in the shadows of the pond; which works well for a while, but eventually I need to come up for air.

Swimming in shadows

Immersed in our little world

Must come up for air

Morning Calls Me

IMG_5894

Morning Bursts Forth

Morning bursts forth in all its radiant glory

Peering into the dark sheltered woods

Highlighting the trees dancing on flowers

The stepping stones draw me to the trees

To the mysterious woods sheltering the creek

Turning to mush in summer’s heat

Frogs buried in the mud keep cool

Sending out their sharp croaks

Calling for someone to hear

Morning breezes soon shift

To a sauna of heat and humidity

But for now the glorious morning rests

On the yellow buttercups

Red salvia bathes in the sunlight

Reaching toward the heavens

Calling me to come join them

In the exhilaration of the beckoning day

Creeping Shadow

img_3323

I was in the mood to do something light and silly. This is what I came up with as I walked out in the sunlight. I remember my father quoting the shadow poem that spoke of the little shadow that goes in and out with me. Sort of a useless thing and yet one none of us can get rid of when we are in the light. See what you think!

    Creeping Shadow

What follows you everywhere you go?

It’s that pesky little shadow you know

Seeing all you do

It quietly follows

Never making noise

Never even a holler

Non-judgmental

It moves right in step

Sometimes short

Sometimes right up to your neck

The lower the light’ angle

The longer it gets

In bright sunlight

You could easily forget

Since it is so small

You might say it’s not there at all

When it’s dark or on Halloween

Long spooky shadows can make you scream

Leaving chills dancing up and down your spine

While on shadow’s spine there’s no chills anytime

Perhaps we should all be like our shadow

And follow ourselves around

Seeing what all we get into

And then with a quiet yawn

Disappear into the light of day

All by ourselves we forget it all

And wait all day for the sun to fall

So we can once again evolveimg_3323

Groundhog Day

eer_0304

Yesterday was Groundhog Day. I was encouraged to see my first daffodils blooming along the creek. It really doesn’t matter whether the Groundhog sees his shadow or not. Spring will come on schedule as it does every year.  Our temperatures take a roller coaster ride this time of the year, but warm weather will soon be here to stay!

Groundhog Day

If the Groundhog saw his shadow

He forgot to tell the flowers

More days of winter in his plan

Blooms in sunshine spread their shadows

Daffodils in bloom my sign of spring

Forget the Groundhog’s gloomy lore

Winter may  send its blustery blow

I see blooms I hear my little birds sing

Warmth and sun rays with warm spring showers

Bringing hope and joy with each new flower

Winter’s past the cold won’t last

I ‘m really ready to put it in my past
