Streets of Colmar

     We visited the town of Colmar on one of our last stops on our Rhine River Cruise. The French town of Colmar goes back to Medieval times.  The old part of town has kept a lot of the old buildings and architecture with modern buildings mixed in as well. We took a tram ride through the town and got a quick but informative tour. The town square has huge shady trees that must be over a hundred years old. It was a very unique place to visit.

Loosing Our Appeal

Old country store
with stories to tell;
Closed and locked
just waiting to be torn down.
Lead paint peeling
roof shingles falling off.
What a sad day…
when it disappears from site/sight;
Making way for “progress”…
Like many of us;
Waiting for our time.

Today at d’Verse, we are to write a Quadrille of exactly 44 words using the prompt peel. I decided to go with paint peeling on an old building.

Stairwell Paintings

I love painting large canvases. I get them from the local Habitat Restore and recycle them into my own creations. The problem is, I don’t have places to hang all of them. A couple of years ago, I ask one of the town officials in Waxhaw if I could hang some of them in an old stirwell. I was able to hang several of them. Everyone who goes up and down gets to enjoy them. Much better than sitting in my garage collecting dust.

The Medieval Town of Colmar

EER_0184 (2)

The Medieval Village of Colmar lies in the heart of Alsace in southern France. Its old buildings are a reminder of centuries old people who used to live here. The unique architecture is one of a kind. We enjoyed seeing both the buildings and the people from all over the world who come to visit.
