Down the country road from where I live is a little Ice Cream Shop called the Dollar Cone. Julie and her family have been serving up ice cream and milk shakes for many years. Not too many places sell you a cone for a dollar. I believe, due to inflation, she is going to raise the price to a dollar and a half next year. All the little kids like the homemade cookies and free sprinkles. As the summer season ends, the colorful Dollar Cone truck will have to be put to rest till next year. I guess I better hurry over and get one more fix before she closes.

On our way back home from a funeral a couple of weeks ago, we came upon Dunrovin’ Country Store. It was just north of Southern Pines, North Carolina. This one of a kind place had everything imaginable packed into a one story building. Since we needed a break from driving, we decided to stop and see what it was all about. Their ice cream was wonderful! It was a very unique place. Here is our tour of the odd and the interesting items found there. I hope you enjoy it as much as we did.
Hope you enjoyed the tour!

A post last week reminded me of days long gone at the local drive-in ice cream shop on Rt. 21 near my home in Pennsylvania. It was a place to take your date for pizza or a twist cone which his were the Twin Kiss got its name. My sister would bring me left over pizza from here when she came back form her dates. It was a time of innocence and coming of age that will always have a sweet place in my mind
Sweet twist vanilla and chocolate
Teasing taste buds fries on the plate
Buddy Morgan kept them coming
Burgers pizza and milkshakes running
Mugs of root beer ice on the glass
Drinking it down a very easy task
Chevys Fords and a 58 Mercury
Parked in rows no one in a hurry
Guys with ducktails Girls without worry
Bobby sox and poodle skirts cute as a button
Sitting tight by their guy teasing and cuttin’
Days long gone the Twin Kiss too
I remember those old days
How about you?
