Daffodils are one of my favorite flowers. The bulbs begin pushing through the ground in the heart of winter. Every warm day in January brings the shoots up higher and higher. By the first of February yellow heads are ready to pop open. They are short-lived, but are a hopeful reminder that spring is not far away.

I love daffodils too. Yours arrive so much earlier than they do here. I like the hopefulness of your poem.

I’ve never understood how that works. Weren’t you covered in snow not long ago?

No the snow went up the mountain range and all we got was a day or two of rain. Our average winter temperature here in the Charlotte area is around 45 F. We sometimes get late snow around the first of March. Having grown up in Pennsylvania, if feels like spring all winter long down here!

That’s about what our temperature is supposed to be. It was far higher than normal until the new year then it dropped to way below. The shock was tough!

Keeping our fingers and toes crossed on the weather situation Dwight. The Daffies are ready to hit the scene, because that’s what they do! I think they are going to be just fine! Cheers! 🌻💐🌺
