On the Boulevard De L’Orangerie the storks love to nest
All the way from Africa they arrive for their summer rest
Above the streets of Strasbourg they spread their broad wings
Leaving tourists in awe… but no babies sing
on the boulevard De L’Orangerie

Today is Quadrille Monday at d’Verse Poets Pub. De Jackson asked us to write a 44 word Quadrille using the word wing. I am writing about the beautiful storks we saw when we visited Strasbourg, France back in 2019.

How amazing!
And a fun poem, too!

Dwight, those trees look an awful lot like sycamores! Storks in the sycamores, how enchanter is that?

They really did have that same color in the leaves and the bark. Storks in our sycamores would be interesting!

This is a thought-provoking poem for me because I’m wondering what’s behind but “no babies sing / on the boulevard De L’Orangerie.” I’m getting a sense of something dark.

Oh, thank you LIz…. No, nothing dark. Just a referral to the tale that storks deliver babies. But there is none to be found where they live! Thanks for asking about that!

I reckon all the babies are content and sleeping. A wonderful quadrille.

Ha ha… maybe so… No stork deliveries here!

Wonderful, Dwight. Wait, what? The stork thing is a myth? 🙂

Maybe the storks drop the babies off before they get to those trees. 🤣

I like the idea of a split-second photo op. I am working on a poem expanding that idea! Thanks for the inspiration.

I wonder if it proves once for all, that storks don’t bring the babies.

Ha ha… Yes, it convinced me! Now I am totally disillusioned! :>) Thanks.
