Celebrating Diversity

Some think diversity should be a mandate

A cultural change forced to enlighten

Not just acknowledged acceptance,

but required

I see diversity, not as a melting pot,

but as a mosaic masterpiece of all shapes and sizes

One to be celebrated, shared, and acknowledged

We are back from our summer break at d’Verse and Merril has given us the prompt celebrate, to celebrate eleven years as a poetry group on Word Press. She said we can use it in any manner we choose. I wrote a perspective on celebrating diversity; getting along with one another in spite of how we look or what we believe.

  1. I am for diversity and inclusion of all. It is also one way to gain understanding and sharing strengths with each other. Thanks for celebrating with us and being part of the dVerse community.

  2. You’ve expressed the true nature of diversity beautifully:

I see diversity, not as a melting pot,
but as a mosaic masterpiece of all shapes and sizes
One to be celebrated, shared, and acknowledged.

  3. Dwight, I’m with you on this. The idea of melting us all into one homogenous, hive-like being is not my idea of healthy. Like monoculture crops are not ecologically sound, neither is forced assimilation. I like the way you put it: a mosaic masterpiece of all shapes and sizes
