Potholes
Some hit and complain
Others will drive around
A few will fill them

I’ve never thought of potholes as a metaphor for how we should live our lives. It fits!

This made me laugh out loud! That is very sad indeed. Your DOT must be as sorry as ours! Thanks!

“Potholes and bumps? Welcome to the world. Every road has them. They’re there to be navigated, avoided, driven over, or through to the other side. Don’t keep driving into the pothole.”

I tend to hit them because I’m not paying attention. But I always think, someone should fill those in, they’re like swimming pools out there.

Some do get pretty huge and need lots of attention. But the DOT does a sorry job at fixing them.

I am driving around a pothole every day on Route 1. The pothole get filled up and then after a while, it’s a pothole again.

Oh, I know what you mean. The DOT hear only throws gravel and tar at them. They belly out within a week. That is why some of us started collecting and buying bags of cold asphalt for our neighborhood. It lasts really well.

Thank you… It works so much better to take care of the problem than fuss about them all the time.

It depends how life is going I guess. Do all three at different times. Interesting thought.

The metaphor is so amazing, I never thought of using such daily life stuff as metaphors yet now that I read your poem, I’m thrilled to read more of such.
