Temperatures dropped to 20 degrees.
Frost shivered its way across my front door glass
leaving trails of fossilized beauty
which like the ephemeral hibiscus
are here today and gone tomorrow.
A dusting of snow rests like tiny diamonds
on my deck rail and bowl.

I pretend to dislike snow in some circles where complaints fly but I’m a snow lover at heart. Such pristine beauty that muffles the night cannot be honestly perceived as ‘bad’.

Thank you Cheryl. Winter has beauty all its own. I love it. We have cardinals that stay all winter with us.

I don’t know where our cardinals go, but they arrive here in great numbers for the mating season in February. They are then the dominant birds in the surrounding woods. When we lived in Virginia, we had cardinals who came to our house to eat birdseed in the winter. It’s a mystery to me, Dwight.

There’s a rebirth of beauty in fresh snow. You capture it so well, Dwight. Your space looks lovely and undisturbed, whereas mine hardly holds still for a photo before little feet, mounding, snow-ball fighting, and merriment shatter the illusion.

Absolutely beautiful imagery! I always loved the pattern of frost on a window…almost a mosaic in shades of white on glass. But – I must admit, I’m enjoying the San Diego sunshine these days ๐ Here until March 9.
