We are just squishy pots of clay
spun and shaped by the master
Starting out as greenware
Aged and dried in the sun
Young and vibrantly smooth …
But we’re not finished
Till baptized in life’s colors
Full of toil and troubles
Only to be fired in life’s kiln
Aged // glazed with experience
Hardened with love’s beautiful finish
Yet, some struggle so hard
that their final hardened glaze
is crackled raku, tried by fire
still beautiful in its own way…
The Alchemist loves them both

The raku pottery is very fascinating work. I did a little research and found that the Japanese just take it out of the kiln hot and let it cool in the open; whereas in the west, they take it out and put it in a container and build a fire around it to get the final finish effect!

We do a mix. Sometimes cooling it in air, sometimes in water and sometimes even in the snow! 🙂

First of all amazing painting Dwight I didnt know it was a painting at first, thought it was an actual clay pot 😁
The poem how well it went with the painting and loved how you compared us to that clay shaped by our maker, simply a stunning piece.

A lovely, meaningful poem, Dwight. The crackles formed through the struggle make the final result all the more beautiful (in both senses of the metaphor) ❤
