O fair flower, so quickly you’re fading…

Deep red transformed into gossamer wings.

 While all around you remains vibrant green

another emerges to take your place

O frail beauty, intense brightness shines forth

reflected from petals bent and browning…

Shriveling // curling inward in death

  1. Of all the flowers I hate to see curl up and die, Dwight, it’s the hibiscus that gets me the most, perhaps because it so gorgeous but so short-lived. As a metaphor for our own lives though, it’s not wasted in your beautiful words. I think you and I were thinking along the same lines for our quadrille.
