Root of bitterness
Attaches deep within your soul
Like rusty barbed wire
Twisted pain stretched tight
Anger embedded in flesh
Forgiveness removes the barbs

Forgiveness is for something that’s already happened, but what about when you willingly go back for more?

I have to say that it’s interesting to read about bitterness from a person who comes across as entirely not bitter 😏
Well done, Dwight!

It may seem that way, David, but I have had my bitter time in my life!. It is only by forgiving, letting it go and moving on that I have found peace with those situations. Thank you for you kind observation. I take it as a high compliment!

Such a simple truth that many fail to realise: bitterness is almost as damaging as jealousy, and it damages most the person who harbours it.

I was just thinking about resentment this morning and how bitter it can make you, and then I realized that if you let The bitterness cleanse you and remove you from some unwanted circumstance it becomes a freeing force! And forgiveness and healing surely follow! And bam, you’re lovely poem comes my way! Thank you 🥰🥰

We often focus too long on the pain and not enough on the resolution.

Great stuff, Dwight. I LOVE the closing line. And that 2nd photo is fantastic. We had a tree like that at our last place, but it was an iron rake embedded in the tree. I really wanted to cut it down & bring it with us when we moved, but couldn’t bring myself to do it. After all, I hadn’t created, only inherited it, so I suppose I was obliged to pass it on… Bummer.
But I digress…Great stuff, Dwight.

Dwight, the thing that bothers me most about a certain politician is the negative emotions he arouses. I don’t live my life in anger and fear, but I maintain peace of mind with a little extra effort nowadays. I see a similarity between him and embedded barbed wire. Take care! ❤
