Bitterness

Root of bitterness

Attaches deep within your soul

Like rusty barbed wire

Twisted pain stretched tight

Anger embedded in flesh

Forgiveness removes the barbs

    • It may seem that way, David, but I have had my bitter time in my life!. It is only by forgiving, letting it go and moving on that I have found peace with those situations. Thank you for you kind observation. I take it as a high compliment!

  2. I was just thinking about resentment this morning and how bitter it can make you, and then I realized that if you let The bitterness cleanse you and remove you from some unwanted circumstance it becomes a freeing force! And forgiveness and healing surely follow! And bam, you’re lovely poem comes my way! Thank you 🥰🥰

  3. Great stuff, Dwight. I LOVE the closing line. And that 2nd photo is fantastic. We had a tree like that at our last place, but it was an iron rake embedded in the tree. I really wanted to cut it down & bring it with us when we moved, but couldn’t bring myself to do it. After all, I hadn’t created, only inherited it, so I suppose I was obliged to pass it on… Bummer.

    But I digress…Great stuff, Dwight.

    • Thank you so much Ron! Your rake in the tree sounds interesting. I am sure you got some photos. That would make a great post!
When I saw this barbed wire, I knew there was a poem waiting to happen. Thank you so much for your kind affirmation. I enjoyed see all of you yesterday and hearing you read your poems on the You Tube clip.

  4. Dwight, the thing that bothers me most about a certain politician is the negative emotions he arouses. I don’t live my life in anger and fear, but I maintain peace of mind with a little extra effort nowadays. I see a similarity between him and embedded barbed wire. Take care! ❤
