In the winter of 2018 and 2019 the gas company excavated about a hundred foot clearing and installed a 12 inch natural gas line six to eight feet deep! We were devastated to see all of the beautiful trees being turned into wood chips. When they were finished they installed thousands of feet of black plastic silt fence all around the work site to prevent run off into the waterways.

The fiber mats that were put down on both sides of the stream must have been filled with wild flower seeds. When summer came there appeared a large number of yellow Daisies and Black Eyed Susans all across the bottom. The grass they sowed came up and the area began to recover.

This past week they came in with a small track hoe and pulled up all the steel fence posts and ripped up the black silt fence. They loaded it all on a small four wheeler truck hauled it all away. The damage they did was minimal. Now the area can completely heal and we can again see the beautiful flowers bloom in the bottom along the creek.

Yes, that is for sure! We were happy to see the plastic fence and wire disappear!

How traumatic it must have been to see the destruction, but it looks like the gas company acted responsibly to repair the damage. Black-Eyed-Susans are my favorite wildflowers. Love your poem! ❤
Have a wonderful week, Dwight!

Thank you so much Cheryl! We were pleasantly surprised when all these beautiful flowers showed up and this past summer there were even more. It was like a big natural flowerbed!

I am so glad the earth has begun to recover! I was about to despair when I saw the damage done by the heavy equipment.

You can imagine how we felt as we watched all this taking place. It has ended very well. They did a great job with the after care!

Yes, I can imagine! There are too many trees being cut down in my part of the state for strip malls, convenience stores, and self-storage facilities.

We fought Granite Bridge here and sent them packing but Unitil raped the area for natural gas pipeline and I doubt they left seeds in their wake 😦

Sounds sad! The state and county here makes sure they get it right when they are done.

NH allows this and most of the fuel would have been used elsewhere including other countries. 😦 we must fight for the earth as it is all we have.

That is true! I love the show 20 years after man is gone. It shows the progression of nature taking over once more. Just look at the Aztec ruins buried under all that jungle!

Gas is redundant really, renewables are the way, and it’s not just the emissions that are of concern, it is exactly the process you have written about here that also concerns. Renewables have a smaller footprint. I hate to see the destruction, but so glad there was a happier outcome.
