This is my second painting of horses running in the surf. The person who bought the first one asked for a second one with some darker horses. I went back to basics and this painting turned out even better than my white horses. The gold leaf frame is from the Habitat Restore as is the recycled 18 x 20 canvas!
The horses remind me of the wild horses that roam on the outer banks of North Carolina and Virginia.
Running wild and free
Stirring up the the foaming surf
Mole crabs burrow deep
Lovely colors, Dwight! I am sure your customer will be thrilled. I immediately thought of Assateague and Chincoteague when I saw the painting! We did some camping there many years ago. 🙂

We camped there many years ago when our boys were very young. Woke up the next morning with our air mattresses floating in water! A very soggy morning!

wow we have wild horses in the alps but never heard of them galloping in the ocean … this gives a real feeling of freedom Dwight … I can see why they asked for a second one!

Thank you Kate. The live on the islands off the coast of Virginia and NC! Usually you just see them in small groups grazing!

Dwight, your creative talents are boundless! Beautiful painting. You would love the wild horses that roam through the Tonto National Forest in Arizona. Many months ago I posted a photo of them, but here is a link if you’d like to learn more. https://saltriverwildhorsemanagementgroup.org/

Beautiful painting of the horses, interesting to see them on seaside, running on the surf. Nearer to me, they are more commonly found in the hills.
