All the world around me glows
Atop trees red leaves whisper
As birds sing sweet lullabies
Arias unique to each
Ants build hills under my feet
Albatross soars high above
Azure blue skies call me home
Today at d’Verse Laura introduced us to a form of poetry called Pleiades. We must pick a ONE-WORD TITLE then write a SEVEN-LINE poem of SEVEN SYLLABLES whereby each line begins with the FIRST LETTER of your title.

I took that the other day out in my front yard. I was amazed at that beautiful red leaf still hanging on against the blue sky! Thanks Liz.

It is a local thing so not surprising you were not sure what Carolina Blue Sky was all about.

Lovely imagery! I like the description of birdsong as “arias” and “lullabies.” Nice contrast, yet they both can be apt.

Amazing, indeed! The beauty of your pleide is that it is not the least bit contrived as it sings a morning song. I read it for its content and imagery and was not caught by the repeated A nor the syllabic count. But then, rereading it with the definition in mind, I was doubly amazed at how beautifully you pulled it off, Dwight. What a gift! Thank you for sharing. Makes me wanna try it. Happy Thanksgiving, {{{Dwight}}}. Have an AMAZING day !

Thanks Jan! I really appreciate your kind affirmation. I enjoy doing the syllabification in poems. It is a fun challenge. This one was a first for me. I am glad you enjoyed the poem for what it is also. That means a lot to me.

That is a beautiful photo, on my walk the other day I came across one beautiful maple leaf on the ground. I wondered which tree it has fallen from as they were all barren. An amazing poem and photo.
The ant hill made me think of my time in Florida with fire ants…strange how memories pop in..just don’t let those ants crawl up you leg.

Thank you Truedessa! I loved the glow of the red leaf against that big blue sky. Yes, ants can leave their mark on you if they get on your skin. Thank you for your kind words.

You paint the picture of a very beautiful world through that poem Dwight, reminds me of Pippa’s song by Robert Browning. Simple and beautiful, feels so good to read at a time when all’s not right with the world. Nature’s at its vibrant best due to the pandemic interlude though.
And the picture is brilliant as usual 💖
