Frozen solid
Claws dance on ice
Our first frost

Mottled reflection
Nature’s hammered glass shines
Sparrow’s throat is dry

Teapot’s hot water
Melted ice clear reflection
Gross Beak finds warm drink

I love this wonderful and kind post, the words and the photos. I wrote about helping all year our friends, just like Mary Poppins sings: “Feed the birds….”.

yes, and I am well known for ensuring that there is water out for them 🙂 Often fill neighbours birdbaths when they were ill or absent.

I’m feeling a bit dim, but why is the bird’s beak “gross”?

Ha Ha!! That is too funny! That is the name of the bird. Gross Beak. I am guessing Gross means oversized in some language. It has a big fat beak like a Cardinal!
