The winter took its toll on our streets
As garbage trucks rolled by each week
*
Our potholes have grown so deep
Each time I hit one I shriek
The DOT did a fix without the right mix
Now the gravel back out slowly creeps
Today is Quadrille Monday at d’Verse. De Jackson asked us to use any form of the word Fix! Today I have been fussing with the DOT (Department of Transportation) about the poor job they did fixing the potholes in our street. They had to come back within thirty days and refill them. They just throw in a little gravel with some thin tar and hope it stays. But it doesn’t! Very frustrating!!

I see a frowny face in that street, which is how I feel when the roads aren’t in good shape. I like this!

Thank you! Potholes don’t make me smile! Especially when they are supposed to be fixed!

Nothing has been fixed around here since we went on pause. I am sure the pot holes are still out there.

Thank you! They did fix them but they just put gravel and oil in them and they push right back out!

lol a pragmatic one … we have the same problem where I live but our holes are deeper 🙂
Maybe send a link to local council!

Many potholes here too. The DOT won’t pay for my car repairs!

Ha… I am sure they won’t. I got their attention yesterday by posting photos of the potholes on their NCDOT site on Facebook!

I noticed when I lived in the South that the potholes tended not to be properly attended to. Here in NH they have to be, or the roads won’t be fit to drive on.

They probably us an asphalt mix. The missing ingredient in this fix is the sand that give the stones some coherence!

That must be it.It’s the same road surfacing material.

The patching material does look like regular asphalt.

It isn’t, it is just gravel and a little thin tar!

Yeah, that’s not gonna work . . .

We have similar problems in our area. You would have thought they’d be able to get the job done during lockdown.

Yes, that would have been a perfect time to fix potholes!

The quick fix…it rarely lasts. So frustrating to see the same mistakes repeated over and over. (K)

You would think a good fix would be less expensive than come back two or three times!

Maybe the contractor did a bad job in the hope that he would get paid for doing it again.

Ha Ha! I wonder if they even think that far!!

Maybe it was just a temporary patch.

What a terrible job they did with those potholes. Hope the rain will not be doing more damage.

It will not be helping for sure. I got a notification from the DOT today that they are passing my concerns on to the local county manager! We will see! Thanks Grace

You have to wonder why they don’t realize an “easy fix” rarely works….just leads to more work!

That is what I told them… we will see!
