Suet Lover

Every day she works on making a hole in the dead gumtree branch. How she keeps from getting a migraine I certainly do not know. She gets her energy from my suet cake hanging outside my window.

She slowly carves out a nest

      • Thank you for that information, I didn’t know that. In most of the bird species the male is the beautifully colored one. I could make a female assumption why, but I wouldn’t want to offend anyone. Lol!

      • Yesterday I posted a poem about my dad. I also printed it out and laminated it so I could send it to him. David got home and as I was showing it to him I realized I wrote “live” instead of “life”. I said, oh well, one tiny error, he probably won’t notice. David said, “Yeah well your sister will notice and point it out to everyone, that you made a mistake…” So I fixed it, reprinted, relaminated, no mistakes! I find those errors in my writing soul and sole, heal and heel….

  1. I get these beauties and other woodpeckers (flickers, nuthatches, etc.) at the suet. I use one or two cakes of “hi energy” and one or two cakes of “woodpecker blend” to keep them all happy. You got some great shots of them, Dwight!
