Finally, we have some relief from the heat! A cold front pushed through bringing heavy rains overnight. Our resident spider had a gorgeous web spun in my holly bush. In spite of the heavy rain it was strong enough to hold up, undamaged by the storm. The water droplets remained on the beautiful web all day today. No lunch for the spider today!

Frank Tassone’s Haikai prompt for today is Autumn Rain! Just in time for the photos and poem above!
The picture is so pretty, I love the Haiku.
The drop in temperatures is wonderful! We can all finally breath and not sweat beads resembling that of the spiders web. 🤗

Beautiful, Hiaku and photo, Dwight. Spider silk is stronger than silk from silk worms. The hummingbird nest in my backyard was built with spider silk. I understand that scientists are doing research to on that.

Thanks Miriam. It is a gorgeous piece of engineering! Really strong stuff indeed! I don’t see him catching much so I don’t know how he is staying alive.

I was just now cleaning all the spider webs from last night. Some spiders laid many pouches of eggs high on the patio cover. I couldn’t squirt them off. After I stopped the hose, the spiders were crawling again. They are strong.

If that’s a funnel-web spider, it will just jump out and grab something to eat, Dwight, not wait for it to get trapped. Don’t worry about it, nature is used to downpours 🙂 Gorgeous photos!

Thank you Jane. I was amazed to see it stay around so long!

Those webs are tough. There was one in a corner of the veranda ceiling that I thought was uninhabited because it looked so raggy, but when I swept it away the biggest spider I’ve ever seen jumped out of it. They’re no particularly house proud 🙂

I would hate to find one like that in my house, although I have seen a few medium size ones from time to time.

Husband likes spiders and doesn’t mind handling them to put them outside. Even he drew the line at that one.
