Red Maple seed floats merrily on wings;
hoping to find a place from which to rise.
Landing between the crack of a rock;
with little soil, and almost no chance of survival;
it puts down a root;
forever changing the future of that rock!

Quadrille Monday, and Merril, at d’Verse, asked us to use some form of the word rise. I decided to put a little different Spring twist to it and came up with this Quadrille of exactly 44 words.

I have only just come inside after pullling Jacaranda tree seedings from the cracks and joins in the pathways. π
Nice poem.

I always find it amazing how these roots take hold and a plant rises from the concrete. It goes to show a seed can still grow even in the hardest of environments.

It’s funny how the little leaves do look like a pair of wings. Little maple sprouts are darned tenacious.

Itβs amazing β humans have to go at a rock with a pick while a little seed patiently puts down a root and cracks it!

I love the fact that this little plant has battled through to see the light. Great photo and words.
Within everything/everyone there is a softness sat waiting for the right time to emerge.

Good observation about the future of that rock if it survives.

Did the poem come from the photo? Either way, it’s lovely, and such an interesting perspective. One never thinks of how the rock is affected. Well done!

In the little village of Greensburg, Indiana, a tree grows from the top of the courthouse, a testament to the perseverance of the seed! Inspiring poem.

How interesting! I have seen them grow in gutters and many other places. A lesson for all of us. Thanks!

Falling to rise again from a vulnerable place. A wonderful metaphor this makes.

I missed seeing my Silver Maple helicopters – but boy oh boy I’m pulling up little sprouts all over the place where they aren’t supposed to be. A weed is anything growing where you don’t want it π

As little ‘uns we would peel the seed part take the seed out and then stick the pod on our noses… Not sure who we were pretending to be π
