Living With Diversity

We must rise above the demanding;
Those who would hold us back…
Covering our light with darkness;
Telling us we must conform.
Some would have us call
Darkness light and light darkness;
In a world where darkness rules
Always distorting the truth.
Others would like us to believe
Conformity is the answer to faith…
That questioning or having a different view
Needs to be held in question.
Sad that we can’t enjoy our diversity;
Without one side or the other
Feeling like they have to control
The way everyone else thinks.

  2. Really good–I can’t remember the quote exactly, but recently I heard someone say, “would you rather be right, or continue in fellowship/relationship?” You get the gist, I’m sure–we don’t need to agree on everything, or be “right” all the time about everything (as a way of preserving our superiority–an ego-thing). I understand that we must maintain our integrity, there are some things that may be “deal breakers”…but regarding most things, we seriously need to just get along. I think I’m rambling now…it’s nearly 6am and I’ve not gone to bed yet πŸ™‚

    • Thank you so much for your thoughtful comments. Yes, demanding our rights is something that is very popular these days. Perhaps that is why we are so divided as a country. We preach diversity, but don’t want to accept people who think or believe differently.
