Darkness upon us
The light of the world is born
Winter Solstice comes
A bright new day is dawning
Overcoming our darkness

Today on Frank Tassone’s Haikai challenge he asked us to write a poem about the Winter Solstice which will occur this coming week.
I always love solstice because that means we start gaining daylight again!!! (Where I live, it’s about 5-1/2 minutes a day so it adds up quick.)

Here it gets light at 8:00 and dark around 4:30.

Today the sun rises a bit after ten and sets just before four. So about just under six hours. Of course it’s more extreme further north…

You published this one on my birthday, and it’s a lovely birthday wish–light in the darkness!
(I am SO behind on reading.) 🙂
