“An entertainer gives people what they wanted… an artist give people what they didn’t know they wanted!” Josh Groban
Poetry
Which poem that I wrote
…stopped you in your tracks
…made you think
of what’s long forgotten
…challenged preconceived notions
or stretched your perspective?
What do you look for
when you read my poetry?
Are you left hanging…
Or pleasantly surprised?
My goal in writing poetry
is to write in such a way
that you will not
have to read it again…
And // you will not be able
to forget what you read

The quote from Josh Grobin came from his interview with Dan Rather on The Big Interview at AXS TV.
Liked the Josh Groban quote and enjoyed your poem…yes, it is hoped that the message of our poem reaches hearts and memories tho I write to understand myself first.

I am one who tends to think out loud. Poetry helps me process and find what I really believe.

Thanks for your comment. Perhaps you are right. Poetry without purpose does not seem to fly very far.

Thank you Astrid. I don’t expect everyone to comment on every post. A few now and then are always good.

You are right! Some you have to read a second and third time and still don’t know what they are saying!

As I reread this comment,I think I missed your intent. You were talking about reading my poetry a second or third time. Yes a second or third reading can trigger spinoffs in our mind. Thank you Grace.

The poem made me pause after every line, just to rethink, but it was amazing. I write poetry too. Mine consist of similes and metaphors- which are hard to comprehend. I’m bad at expressing myself, but poetry makes it easy!
